Tottenham striker Harry Kane is more likely to sign a new contract at the north London club than join Bayern Munich next summer, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.

The German giants are thought to be keen on the England captain, but Sheth thinks he is "leaning towards" remaining at Hotspur Way.

What is the latest news involving Kane?

90min recently reported that Tottenham are becoming increasingly concerned by Bayern's interest in Kane.

The football website claims that both Spurs and the 29-year-old are open to discussing a new contract but talks are yet to take place.

Kane's current deal expires in 2024, meaning Tottenham could have a big decision to make next summer if he has not signed a new one by then.

Bayern sold Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona in July, so it is likely that they will be in the market for a new centre-forward like Kane in the new year.

What has Sheth said about Kane's Tottenham future?

While a move to one of Europe's biggest clubs in Bayern may be tempting, Sheth is not ruling out Kane signing a new contract at Tottenham and remaining at the club.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the Sky Sports reporter said: "I think what the talk is more leaning towards now compared to last summer, when there was talk of Harry Kane leaving the football club, is is Harry Kane going to sign an extended contract at Tottenham Hotspur as opposed to leaving?

"So I think, for me, that's the direction it seems to be moving in more."

Will Bayern sign Kane next summer?

It is easy to see why they want to. After selling Lewandowski, who scored 344 goals during his time at the Allianz Arena, to Barcelona, they could do with the arrival of a world-class No.9.

And Kane, having registered 254 times for Spurs, clearly fits the bill. However, getting the England star out of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could prove to be a tricky task.

"We tried to open the door to negotiate," Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said last year (via Manchester Evening News) after the Premier League champions attempted to sign Kane. "But the big master of negotiations Daniel Levy knows everything, we couldn't do it."

Next summer, Kane will have just one year left on his contract, so Tottenham will be in a much weaker position. But given how difficult it can be to negotiate with Levy, few would be shocked to see Bayern fail in their pursuit of the Spurs player.
