Pierre Gasly says that things are 'out of his control' when it comes to speculation he might leave AlphaTauri for Alpine ahead of the 2023 Formula 1 season.

The driver market for next year is gradually taking shape, though there are still several situations that need to be resolved in the coming weeks.

Currently, five teams have their driver line-up locked in for 2023, whilst the other half each have one seat available, though the likes of Zhou Guanyu is expected to stay on at Alfa Romeo for next season and complete their line-up at least.

AlphaTauri, meanwhile, have two contracted drivers now for 2023 after Yuki Tsunoda signed an extension for next season with the team, following on from Gasly's agreement with them earlier this year, but that does not necessarily mean they are going to be the pair that competes for the Faenza-based outfit next campaign.

Indeed, it's believed Gasly can be easily bought out of his contract with the team and that could come in handy with Alpine considerably linked with wanting to bring him in to replace the Aston Martin-bound Fernando Alonso.

Pierre Gasly discusses his future

Speaking to Sky back at the Italian Grand Prix, Gasly discussed the speculation, and tried to keep things as coy as possible:

"At the moment this is out of my control.

"These guys have given my first win in F1 and my first chance in Formula 1.

"It doesn't mean I'm going to stay there all my life because my ambitions in Formula 1 are to fight at the front, and that's what I want.

"It's been five years at AlphaTauri. We'll see if I do another year there, but at the moment that's what's planned. If this is what happened I'll give my 110 percent to this team.

"There are a couple of things that need to be sorted first before we talk more about this situation. In my situation there are only positives. We'll see what happens in the next few weeks."

Time will ultimately tell as to where Gasly ends up for 2023, with both Alpine and AlphaTauri very possible destinations for him.

Alpine naturally like the idea of an all-French driver line-up but, at least for now, Gasly is an AlphaTauri driver for next year.
