Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha is likely to leave Selhurst Park on a free transfer next summer, according to The Sun's Tom Barclay.

While Barclay says the 29-year-old does have a contract offer on the table, he still expects him to depart the south London club at the end of the season.

What is the latest news involving Zaha?

Earlier this month, Barclay's colleague Jack Rosser reported that Palace were looking to tie Zaha down to a new deal.

The Ivorian forward has entered the final 12 months of his current contract and attracted some interest from Chelsea in the recent transfer window.

Should Zaha decide to leave Selhurst Park next summer, he is unlikely to be short of suitors, with Palace's talisman continuing to impress in the Premier League.

He has made an excellent start to this season, scoring four goals in five appearances so far.

What has Barclay said about Zaha's Palace future?

Barclay can see Zaha departing Palace next June when his £130,000-a-week contract expires.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, The Sun journalist said: "He could sign a pre-contract [abroad] in January and there's always the possibility of that. A contract is on the table for Zaha, but I feel like the way things are going, most likely, he leaves on a free transfer in the summer."

Where could Zaha move to?

As already mentioned, Chelsea did look at Zaha in the last transfer window, so perhaps Stamford Bridge could be a possible destination.

According to The Independent, the Blues considered making a late swoop for the Ivory Coast international while Thomas Tuchel was still in charge, but nothing happened in the end.

From Palace's perspective, hopefully the Eagles can get him to sign a new contract, as he is not the kind of player that is easy to replace.

Described as an "outstanding" footballer by Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe, Zaha finished last season as Palace's top scorer after registering 15 goals in all competitions.

As per WhoScored, he also completed 2.3 dribbles per game, which was the highest average in Patrick Vieira's squad, further showing the kind of attacking threat the former Manchester United man brings to the pitch.

Considering the above, it is important that Palace do everything they possibly can to keep Zaha at Selhurst Park. Given his contract situation, though, they clearly face a real fight to retain his services beyond the 2022/23 campaign.
