Cooper has been in charge of the Midlands outfit since September 2021 and guided them back to the Premier League following a 23-year absence last season, seeing off Huddersfield Town in the Championship play-off final.
What is the latest news involving Forest?
Forest raised several eyebrows upon their return to the top-flight by bringing in an astounding 23 new players either on permanent or temporary deals.
Signing a large number of acquisitions was a necessity for Cooper, though, as he saw 16 first-team players depart, including several important stars who were only at the club on loan.
The likes of Djed Spence, James Garner, Max Lowe, Philip Zinckernagel, Keinan Davis all returned to their parent clubs, while first-choice goalkeeper Brice Samba declared he wanted to depart.
And that has undoubtedly played a part in Forest’s slow start to the season, with them picking up just four points from their opening seven Premier League games.
That has left the newly-promoted outfit lingering in the relegation zone, and The Telegraph’s Sam Wallace has claimed Cooper is already ‘under pressure’.
What has Jones said about Forest?
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has sacked five managers in less than five years but showed plenty of ambition in the previous window, backing Cooper to the tune of around £145 million.
And Jones believes the Greek billionaire is planning on showing as much ambition in his search for a new boss if he does decide to part ways with his current chief.
In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “If they change manager, then I’ve heard they are going big.”
Who could Forest appoint?
At present, there are some managers with incredibly high profiles out of work, including Zinedine Zidane, Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino.
The trip managed Real Madrid, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain in their previous jobs, respectively, and may be out of reach for Forest regardless of how much money Marinakis offers them.
More realistic options may come in the shape of Domenico Tedesco and Brendan Rodgers, therefore.
Tedesco is a highly-rated 37-year-old tactician who was relieved of his duties at RB Leipzig earlier this season following a disappointing opening few weeks despite guiding the German outfit to their maiden DFB-Pokal last term.
Meanwhile, Rodgers is currently struggling to get a tune out of bottom-placed Leicester City but has previously enjoyed success at the King Power Stadium and with Celtic.
