FIFA 23 is just days away from release, so EA Sports have dropped the ratings for the female stars set to feature on this year’s game.

It was announced that women’s club teams would be added to FIFA for the first time ever in July, and anticipation among women’s football fans has been building since.

The 2023 Women’s World Cup, set to be held in Australia and New Zealand, is another feature added to FIFA 23.

This means players from the Women’s Super League and the Division 1 Féminine, along with stars from national teams such as Spain, Germany and the US, will feature on the game.

Without further ado, GiveMeSport Women reveals the 25 highest-rated female players on FIFA 23.

8) Caroline Graham Hansen, Norway – 90

7) Alex Morgan, United States – 90

6) Lucy Bronze, England – 90

5) Marie-Antoinette Katoto, Paris Saint-Germain – 90

4) Ada Hegerberg, Olympique Lyonnais – 91

3) Wendie Renard, Olympique Lyonnais – 91

2) Sam Kerr, Chelsea – 91

1) Alexia Putellas, Spain – 92

Ballon d’Or winner Putellas is understandably the highest-rated player on FIFA 23, although fans won’t be able to play as the midfielder in a Barcelona kit. Instead, she’ll be available through the Spanish national team on the Women’s World Cup feature.

Kerr, Renard and Hegerberg are all on 91, while Morgan, the only American player in the top 25, is rated 90.

Arsenal fans may feel slightly aggrieved by Miedema’s rating of 89, given she is the all-time record goalscorer in the WSL. But they will be pleased to see Mead, the Euro 2022 Golden Boot winner, just behind her on 88.

A number of Mead’s England teammates are on the list, including Bronze, Hemp and Bright.

Have there been women’s teams on FIFA before?

Women’s teams have featured in the popular franchise since FIFA 16, but only international sides up until this point.

Gamers can currently play as women in FIFA 22’s Pro Clubs mode, and former Arsenal star Alex Scott became the first English-speaking female broadcaster on the game this year.

Speaking to GiveMeSport Women, EA Sports marketing director James Salmon explained why the inclusion of women’s teams on FIFA 23 was so important.

“We’re committed to playing an active role in the growth of women’s football and our hope is that the inclusion of women’s club’s sparks further interest in viewership, match attendance and participation in the grassroots game,” he said.

“There are a number of amazing women’s leagues and tournaments across the world for fans to experience – the WSL and D1F are prime examples.”

Salmon also hinted that women’s football fans had lots to look forward to on the new edition of FIFA.

“The reaction to the introduction of WSL and D1 Arkema has been fantastic, all I can say for now is that we’re looking forward to sharing more exciting updates over the next few months.”
