YouTube sensation Speed was the subject of plenty of focus in the build-up to Saturday afternoon's charity match between The Sidemen and the YouTube All Stars.

The Sidemen (a group of popular YouTubers) last hosted one of their charity contests in 2018. Since that time, their most well-known member, KSI, has seen his fame grow even further, thanks to the success of his ventures in music, boxing and even energy drinks.

It was no surprise, then, that the match at The Valley - home of League One side Charlton Athletic - was a complete sell-out.

A host of YouTube stars made the trip to south-east London, including AnEsonGib, Noah Beck, Yung Filly and Chunkz.

Despite the raft of social media royalty on show, 17-year-old Speed (also known as IShowSpeed) who was determined to make sure he stole the spotlight.

Speed was a huge hit on Twitter during The Sidemen's charity match

Having bantered back-and-forth with KSI before the match, it took Speed a mere 16 seconds to produce the first viral moment of the match when he nailed the Londoner with a brutal challenge.

He wasn't the least bit sorry either, celebrating the foul as though it was a goal.

The American youngster might not have been particularly bothered about playing within the rules of the game, but he was determined to give the crowd full value for their ticket price.

Speed went full Cristiano Ronaldo during Sidemen charity match

The comments section of the official YouTube stream of the match essentially became a full-on discussion of Speed later in the first half when the Ohio-born star decided to embrace his inner-Cristiano Ronaldo.

A noted fan of the Portuguese icon, Speed decided to pay tribute to the five-time Ballon d'Or winner by executing some stepovers. It didn't go to plan. However, it was a unique spectacle and you can check it out below.

Speed thought he'd crowned his afternoon with a goal in the second period - and he might have done - if it wasn't for the existence of the offside rule.

He was a distance in front of the last defender when he found the net and correctly drew the linesman's flag. Before he realised, however, he did absolutely nail Ronaldo's trademark 'Siu' celebration.

Speed's cheeky protest towards Mark Clattenburg goes viral

Frustrated at the officiating, Speed did provide one final viral moment when he showed a yellow card to match referee Mark Clattenburg before whipping him on the backside with his shirt.

Clattenburg thankfully saw the funny side, as did hundreds of thousands of Twitter users. You can check out the incident below.

One of the most highly-respected men ever to take charge of a Premier League game, Clattenburg refereed 292 top-flight games before retiring in 2017. Dealing with a character like speed, though, was undoubtedly a new experience for him.

What did Speed say about Mark Clattenburg after the match?

Interviewed after the match, which ended in an 8-7 victory for The Sidemen, Speed had a few choice words about the official's performance.

"Oh my god! So much anger built inside of me you know. I’m mad bro. Who is that ref? Are you even a Premier League ref bro? That’s a clear goal, they just hating. I’m very p**ssed off right now bro," he fumed, per The Mirror.

His afternoon can be best summed up as absolute carnage, but Speed certainly stole the show for the millions watching around the globe.
