Lamar Jackson and his numbers for the Baltimore Ravens have been leaving a lot of people impressed online.

Lamar Jackson has had something of an up-and-down year so far with the Baltimore Ravens. It all really started before the season started, as he and the team were not able to get a deal together despite going through contract negotiations all summer, even the threat of a deadline ahead of Week 1 wasn’t enough for the two to come to an agreement.

As a result, he heads into the season with his future beyond the end of the 2022 season in doubt. The Ravens do have the option to extend him through franchise tags, but they only work for one year at a time, so in terms of the long-term, there is still a lot that needs to be worked out.

Things got better for them though, as they were able to get a win in Week 1 of the regular season, beating the New York Jets at something of a canter by a score of 24-9.

Things though didn’t go so well for them in Week 2 though, as despite having a 35-14 lead heading into the 4th quarter against the Miami Dolphins, they somehow let the lead slip and ended up losing 42-38, although it was far from Jackson’s fault.

Lamar Jackson lights it up

On the day, Jackson was in sensational form all around, using both his arms and his legs to put up a total of 437 yards of offence and contributing 4 total touchdowns, including a 79-yard touchdown run that looked like it would put the game away, although as we know that wasn’t the case.

Given the doubts over his future, there might have been the possibility that he wouldn’t be playing at 100% all the way through, as he might look to protect himself from injury that would impact any further contract talks, but if the numbers in Week 2 might have told you that wasn’t the case, Week 3 certainly left no doubt.

The Ravens took on the New England Patriots on the road, and once again Jackson was able to put on an offensive clinic as they came out 37-26 winners:

Jackson has of course won MVP before back in 2019, but if he can keep it up like this, there’s no reason to think he shouldn’t be in consideration to win it this year. Although adding some silverware like that might make the Ravens regret not locking him down earlier. As people above point out, each game he plays like this only makes a bigger case to pay him big money.
