Tottenham manager Antonio Conte signing a new contract at Hotspur Way is a "possibility", believes The Sun's Tom Barclay.

The 53-year-old has been linked with a return to former club Juventus, but Barclay thinks he is currently happy in north London.

What is the latest news involving Conte?

According to Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri, Juventus are considering replacing Massimiliano Allegri and have Conte in their sights.

Under Allegri, the Serie A side have made a poor start to the season, taking just 10 points from their first seven league games.

Tottenham, in contrast, are flying under Conte. The north London club currently sit third in the Premier League table after racking up 17 points from seven matches.

That alone is why they will want to keep hold of the ex-Inter Milan and Chelsea boss, who is currently thought to be on a deal worth £250,000-a-week at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

What has Barclay said about Conte's Tottenham future?

Barclay thinks Conte could sign a new contract at Spurs, though he admits that the former Italy international can be unpredictable.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, The Sun journalist said: "Conte, his contract is up in the summer, but there's an option to extend it. There's always, I guess, a possibility that he could sign a contract. He has seemed generally, throughout this pre-season and the early part of the season, very happy and has talked about potentially being here for many years.

"But it's also Conte. Sometimes, you're not quite sure what he's thinking. He, historically, hasn't stayed at clubs for too long and it's all about, generally, teams matching his ambition. If you actually look at his history, yes, he was sacked at Chelsea, but at Inter, he left of his own accord. That's often what can happen."

Can Tottenham afford to lose Conte?

It would be a devastating blow if they did. He managed to get them back into the Champions League and currently has them challenging north London rivals Arsenal and Manchester City at the top of the table.

Ultimately, it is going to be difficult for Tottenham to find a better manager than Conte, so they have to do everything they can to get him to put pen to paper on a new deal.

It would be such a setback to lose him now or at the end of the season but, from a Tottenham perspective, hopefully it does not come to that.
