Leeds United winger Luis Sinisterra could be a ‘big, big player’ for his new club this season, according to Sky Sports reporter Tim Thornton.

The talented 23-year-old has made a promising start to his career in west Yorkshire, offering hope that he can replace the threat down the flanks that his predecessor Raphinha provided.

What is the latest news involving Sinisterra?

Sinisterra arrived at Leeds back in July, signing a five-year contract after they completed a £21 million deal for his services with Eredivisie outfit Feyenoord.

The Colombia international registered an outstanding 23 goals and 14 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions last term, helping his former employers reach the maiden Europa Conference League final.

And Sinisterra was named UEFA’s Europa Conference League Young Player of the Season, having racked up 10 goal contributions in the inaugural instalment of the competition

He became Jesse Marsch’s sixth signing of the summer upon his arrival in what was the tactician’s maiden transfer window at the helm and could go on to become one of his most important acquisitions.

That’s because Marsch sanctioned the exits of both Raphinha and Dan James, meaning Sinisterra has been charged with replacing their attacking output from out wide.

What has Thornton said about Sinisterra?

Thornton believes Sinisterra could be ‘one of the most influential players’ for Leeds as the season progresses after showing signs he is already adapting to his new surroundings.

He told GiveMeSport: “We've already seen that he can score goals, not tap-ins either, goals out of nothing. So, he could be a big, big player for Leeds this season.

“And even though he's one of those that maybe wasn't in the picture right at the start of the season, he could be one of the most influential players as the season goes on.”

How well has Sinisterra played this season?

Sinisterra has only started three games across all competitions for Leeds and is yet to play over 64 minutes in a single match but has still managed to make his mark on proceedings.

The Colombia international has found the back of the net on three occasions in his six outings, setting up one further strike for his teammates.

Sinisterra has featured from the off in Leeds’ previous two Premier League fixtures, though, indicating that he is working his way into Marsch’s thinking.

If the South American can continue to build on his recent showings, then there is no reason why he can’t become a mainstay in the starting XI before too long.
