Patrick Mahomes was left visibly frustrated with how things played out for the Kansas City Chiefs during their game with the Indianapolis Colts.

The Kansas City Chiefs have started off this season on rather impressive form, picking up wins in their opening two games of the season against the Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Chargers, scoring 71 points in the process and showing people that even without Tyreek Hill

However, things didn’t quite go their way yesterday as they took on a struggling Indianapolis Colts who had started this season 0-1-1, despite bringing in former MVP Matt Ryan at quarterback to try and give the offense a bit of a boost.

On paper, it looked like it would be a pretty easy game for Mahomes and the Chiefs, but that wasn’t the case as they ended up losing by a score of 20-17.

Patrick Mahomes not at his best

There is no doubting that Patrich Mahomes is a talented quarterback, the numbers that he has put up over the course of his career proves that, and if you need even further convincing, you just need to watch him for one game and you’ll be left with your jaw on the floor.

On a per game basis in the regular season, Mahomes has thrown for 300.7 yards, had a quarterback rating of 106.1 and completed 66.2% of his passes, but against a very tough Colts defense, he wasn’t able to play anything like himself at Lucas Oil Stadium, with just 262 yards, a quarterback rating of 78.5 and completing 57.1% of his passes, and that performance was clearly getting to him.

Temperatures rising with Patrick Mahomes and Eric Bieniemy

It was captured perfectly as the teams were heading off the field at the end of the first half, where despite their lead, Patrick Mahomes was left visibly frustrated with his offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, one of the hottest names in the league and someone who has been mentioned as a future head coach.

Whatever they said clearly didn’t work as the Chiefs could only score three more points for the rest of the game. Whether this was a one-off or something that we should be looking at more seriously, we’ll just have to wait and see. But with the Chiefs set to square off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this week, one of the best defenses in the league, there is clearly a lot that needs to be sorted out.
