Kevin Owens doesn't have a no-cut clause in his big-money WWE contract, a new report has claimed.

The former Universal Champion agreed to stay with WWE by signing a new contract at the end of 2021, putting to bed speculation that he was preparing to leave.

However, despite having a great deal of leverage, it seems like Owens wasn't about to get total security in his new deal.

Kevin Owens' new contract

Owens' WWE deal was set to expire in January 2022, and reports from reputable journalist Jon Alba at the time suggested that people within the company all expected him to leave for AEW.

However, in December of last year, it was reported by Fightful Select that Owens had decided to stay with WWE, putting pen to paper on a big-money contract.

However, despite having a lot of leverage and signing an excellent deal, a new report has claimed that WWE wasn't able to give Owens full security in his new contract.

Dave Meltzer explained on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE has not included a no-cut clause into Owens' deal, meaning they can fire him at any time, via WrestleTalk.

Even Kevin Owens didn’t get a no-cut clause, and he had leverage. He was promised, I’m sure, but they all are, that ‘We’re not gonna cut you’, but it’s not like it’s in writing. There are (some) no-cuts, but there are very, very few in WWE and only the top, top guys have that leverage to have them.

The report notes, as you can see above, that while WWE higher-ups may have made verbal promises to Owens that they won't fire him, there's nothing in writing to confirm that in his contract.

Meltzer explains that very few people within WWE have a no-cut clause as part of their contracts, so it's nothing on KO, it's just not something that WWE likes to include when it signs wrestlers to new deals.

What is Kevin Owens' salary?

As noted, KO decided to stay after receiving a huge money contract from WWE, dealing directly with ex-WWE CEO Vince McMahon.

The Wrestling Observer even claimed that KO's new deal was worth over $3million per year, making him one of WWE's highest-paid stars.
