Harry Kane didn't let Marc-André ter Stegen get in his head and scored one of the best penalties of 2022 in England's clash with Germany on Monday evening.

England went into their final Nations League game of the campaign winless in five matches and without a goal from open play in over 450 minutes.

The Three Lions were already relegated from their group but were still looking to get a positive result in their final match before the World Cup.

England fell 2-0 down in the 67th minute and it looked as if they were going to fall to defeat once again.

But they produced a stunning turnaround which saw them score three goals in nine minutes.

Luke Shaw's close range effort gave England hope, before Mason Mount's brilliant strike restored parity.

Gareth Southgate's side were then given a penalty in the 83rd minute when Jude Bellingham was felled inside the box.

Ter Stegen did absolutely everything he could to put Kane off. He danced on the line as Kane waited to take his spot-kick.

But the England striker was no fazed at all. He strode up to the ball confidently and then struck an emphatic effort from 12 yards into the top corner.

What a strike. There was so much pressure on Kane's shoulders given England's struggles in recent times.

But he proved he was up to the task in some style.

Ter Stegen dived the right way but he was nowhere near getting a hand to Kane's effort, which was struck with some venom into the top corner.

Kane: We came here with a point to prove

Unfortunately for England, the game ended 3-3 after Kai Havertz struck a late equaliser.

But Kane, speaking in his post-match interview, thinks there was plenty of positives to take away from the game.

"The boys have been under pressure with recent results and we all came out here with a point to prove," he said, per the Daily Mail.

"There are lessons we can still learn from the mistakes we made but we scored three goals and I feel like this will put us in a positive mindset ahead of the World Cup.

"We're going to have to be ready come the start of the tournament. Major tournament football is different to any other football you play for England.

"The pressure is high and the concentration has to be high and I feel like we respond well to that."

He added: "Look, we're playing Germany at Wembley, no matter what the competition that is always a big game.

"We've upped our game as we've gone along in the last two major tournaments. We dust ourselves down, we know we have to improve but there isn't that much time now with England before that first game.

"We'll go away with our clubs and hopefully everyone goes away fit, strong and ready to come back in November."
