Newcastle United target Garang Kuol is a 'burgeoning talent' and the Central Coast Mariners starlet would 'join the first-team group' at St James' Park, according to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie.

Having smashed their transfer record to sign Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad last month, it seems Magpies head coach Eddie Howe has set his sights on splashing even more cash when the transfer window reopens in January.

What's the latest news involving Kuol?

According to beIN SPORTS, Kuol has agreed personal terms on a proposed four-year deal which would see him earn £25,000-per-week at Newcastle.

The report suggests the striker, who has entered the final two years of his contract with Australian outfit Central Coast Mariners, has been attracting interest from several European clubs.

It is understood that plans are in place for Kuol to be loaned out to a Portuguese club in January if Newcastle succeed in getting a deal over the line.

The Magpies are reportedly close to finalising the 18-year-old's move to St James' Park and ways of overcoming any work permit issues are being explored.

Borussia Dortmund have also been among the sides coveting Kuol, who is battling it out for a place in Australia's squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

What's the latest news involving Kuol?

Downie understands that Newcastle are admirers of Kuol and, as a result, are keen to beat other sides to his signature.

The Sky Sports reporter believes the frontman is on Howe's radar with the intention of him mixing with the senior squad, rather than joining up with one of the Magpies' youth outfits.

Downie told GIVEMESPORT: "They brought in a few younger lads in the summer, but I do think he would be to join the first-team group.

"He looks like a really, really burgeoning talent. We saw him playing in that match against Barcelona, when he was just racing past the likes of Sergio Busquets and the other guys in midfield."

Would Kuol be a good signing for Newcastle?

With Kuol still being a teenager, there is potential for Newcastle to nurture the Central Coast Mariners ace and he has already racked up four goals in just 145 minutes of action in Australia's top flight.

It has also been an international break to remember for the Magpies' target as he put in a 'thrilling' debut performance while Australia overcame New Zealand last week.

Kuol has also caught the eye of Barcelona boss Xavi, who described him as 'unbelievable', so it is clear that Newcastle will have a special talent on their hands if they succeed in getting a deal over the line.
