Dana White is best known for his role as UFC president. On his watch, the company has grown along with the profile of MMA.

White has always had an interest in combat sports, beginning boxing at 17 and this interest led to him running several gyms based around boxing and boxing related fitness.

He has recently got back into the gym with dramatic results.

Dana White's 30lb weight loss

White has claimed to have lost 30 pounds after having a wake-up call regarding his health.

White enlisted Gary Brecka, owner of the Florida-based 10X Health Systems, to make a complete diagnosis of his health.

According to White, Brecka can “take your blood and DNA, and tell you when you’re going to die, and he’s right within the month.”

Dana White given 10 years to live

Brecka had given White just over a decade to live. So, because of that, he unsurprisingly made some dramatic changes, following Brecka’s advice to the letter, and got back in the gym over the summer.

He now looks in fantastic shape for a man of 53.

Dana White in fantastic shape

The photo has provoked great debate on social media. Most people have been positive and have congratulated White on his new, healthy look. However, some have suggested that White has used performance enhancing drugs to achieve his shredded physique.

Others have been quick to defend the UFC supremo, saying that hard work, smart training and the right nutrition can still lead to fantastic results, even in middle-age.

One comment suggested that White has undergone a rapid transformation over the last six months citing his age and saying that he “didn’t look anything like this six months ago.” They went further saying that those who chose to believe that White wasn’t using PEDs were simply deluding themselves.

This was countered by a reply suggesting that those who were automatically attributing White’s lean and mean look to steroids must know nothing about training and must be “out of shape themselves,” going on to say that consistent training and a sensible diet could yield impressive results at any age.

Dana White against use of PEDs

White has been quick to condemn PEDs in that past. In December last year, he challenged YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul to take a test for steroids after the pair had become involved in a war of words.

In 2012, he installed a policy aimed at creating a drug-free environment within the UFC, where all incoming fighters must agree to taking drug tests prior to signing a contract with the company.

White said at the time when talking to MMA Weekly: “These guys who abuse this stuff younger and earlier in their life now have to do this stuff because their body cannot produce testosterone... so if we can stop that stuff early with these athletes that are young and have the talent to be here, we feel like we’ll win half the battles.”

Steroid use has, in the past, detracted the credibility and value of the sport and White has taken steps to change this. Chael Sonnen is just one fighter to change his views thanks to White.

What cannot be denied is that White looks in great shape. Something which may well earn him kudos among the fighters within his company.
