The W Series will enter a new environment this weekend when it showcases its first ever Singapore Grand Prix.

On Sunday, the all-female Championship will compete on an Asian track for the first time in its history as the season enters its seventh race weekend.

Runaway leader Jamie Chadwick is close to securing her third consecutive W Series title after an almost perfect run during the 2022 season.

What does Jamie Chadwick need to win the W Series?

Chadwick is currently top of the drivers' standings with a mammoth 75-point lead over Alice Powell in second place.

The Brit has dominated the current campaign after securing five consecutive wins, starting with a double-header victory in the season opener in Miami.

The Jenner Racing star then went on to bank a win in Barcelona, followed by her first ever P1 at Silverstone in her home Grand Prix.

Chadwick also finished on the top step of the podium at Le Castellet, before finishing second in Hungary, behind compatriot Powell.

Last year was a much closer affair between Chadwick and Powell. The two entered the 2021 double-header finale level on points, something the W Series had never seen before.

The reigning champion won both races to defend her Championship and is now within touching distance of winning her third title in a row.

With Chadwick way out in front on 143 points, Powell and Beitske Visser are competing for second with 68 points each, as is 19-year-old Abbi Pulling on 65.

To be crowned the 2022 W Series champion, all Chadwick needs to do is win in Singapore. The 25 points from a P1 finish will put her in an uncatchable position — on 168 points. Even if she fails to bank any further points from the final three races, her tally for the season will be mathematically unable to beat.

Should Chadwick fail to register any points in Singapore, she can still afford a further two more races without a win or points finish to remain at the top of the table, even if Powell or Visser win three.

Chadwick would need to finish higher than those chasing her down in just one race between now and the end of the season to secure her third title.

Everything to know about the Singapore Grand Prix

Following a nine-week break, the longest mid-season gap in W Series history, the Championship will kickstart race week seven at the Marina Bay Street Circuit with a 30-minute practice session on Friday, September 30th.

Qualifying will take place on Saturday, followed by the race on Sunday, which will be held ahead of the Formula 1 event later in the day.

The Marina Bay Circuit is one of the newer tracks on the F1 calendar. It hosted its first Grand Prix in 2008 and became the first ever night race in the sport's history.

It will be one of the most physically demanding circuits the W Series drivers have ever raced on due to its track surface, humid conditions and 23 corners.
