Tommy Fury is reportedly set to return to the ring for a meeting with Paul Bamba on the Floyd Mayweather vs Deji card.

He may hold a pro record of 8-0 but in the world of boxing, Tommy Fury isn’t exactly famous for the right reasons.

Above his boxing ability, the main headlines always tend to focus on his time on Love Island, his relationship, his appearance, and the fact that he’s Tyson Fury’s younger brother.

Some may suggest that’s unfair whereas others will step back and wonder where his actual ability lies in contrast to that of Tyson’s.

It’s a question that we all want to be answered at some stage and according to Boxing Scene, we may be moving one step closer to getting some clarity as Fury gears up for a return to the squared circle later this year.

Making a statement

The proposed contest will see him meet Paul Bamba on November 13, who currently sits at 5-2 as a pro boxer.

Bamba, 33, will be competing for the fourth time this year, with that kind of activity being something Fury isn’t used to given that he’s only fought once in 2022 in comparison to three times in 2021.

He always tends to fight on quite big cards and this one will be no different, with the main event pitting Floyd Mayweather against YouTuber-turned-boxer Deji, the younger brother of KSI.

That kind of sentence would’ve been laughed out of the building just twelve months ago but in the modern age, it’s entirely plausible.

The Jake Paul shadow

The elephant in the room for Tommy Fury is always going to be the fact that he’s had a fight with rival Jake Paul called off multiple times, predominantly because Fury wasn’t able to make it to fight night - whether it be because of injury or other circumstances.

Paul hasn’t let him forget about that and he’s made it known that he isn’t overly interested in entertaining a meeting with Fury at this stage, especially when you consider the kind of opponent ‘The Problem Child’ will be taking on next month.

Anderson Silva, the former UFC middleweight champion, is the latest MMA fighter who will step up and battle Paul in a boxing match.

Meanwhile, Fury hasn’t been able to showcase what he can do up to this point but if he can get past Bamba, better days could be on the horizon.
