The opposition know what he's going to do, but they just cannot stop it from happening. Messi is simply too darn good.

In the immediate aftermath of the goal, one fan inside the stadium decided to run on the pitch in an attempt to get the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner's coveted signature.

After initially scaring the life out of Messi, the shirtless supporter asked Messi to autograph his back, with the player selflessly obliging.

Before Messi could complete the signature with the pen handed to him, the stadium's security team intervened and tackled the supporter to the ground.

The fan was so close, yet so far - and you almost feel a little bit sorry for them.

Around three minutes after his meeting with the pitch invader, Messi put Argentina 3-0 ahead with his first free-kick goal in well over a year.

Messi has now hit nine goals in his last three games for Argentina after bagging all five in the nation's 5-0 friendly win over Estonia back in June.

As we previously mentioned, the PSG man has now netted 90 for his country overall, which makes him the third-highest scorer in the history of men's international football.

Only Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal, 117 goals) and Ali Daei (Iran, 109 goals) sit ahead of him.

The form he's in right now, Messi will almost certainly close the gap on them at the World Cup later this year...
