Tottenham would like Harry Kane to sign a new deal, says The Sun's Tom Barclay.

The 29-year-old is out of contract in 2024 and is currently thought to be attracting interest from Bayern Munich.

What is the latest news involving Kane?

According to Kicker, Kane is one of Bayern's top targets as they look to replace Robert Lewandowski, who joined Barcelona during the summer.

The German outlet states that initial contact has already been made with Kane's camp, which will come as a worrying development to Tottenham.

Chelsea have also been linked with the Englishman but, given their fierce rivalry with Spurs, you would imagine that it would be extremely difficult for them to sign him.

Kane has already punished the west London club this season, scoring the equaliser in his side's 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge last month.

What has Barclay said about Kane's Tottenham future?

Barclay thinks Tottenham would like Kane to put pen to paper on a new deal at Hotspur Way, but The Sun journalist says there is no update on his contract situation.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, he said: "He's obviously a world-class striker, whose contract is up at the end of next season. We'll have to wait to see what he does, whether he signs a new deal. I'm sure Tottenham would like him to do that, but I haven't heard anything new on that side of things."

What do Tottenham need to do to convince Kane to sign a new contract?

Win trophies, it is as simple as that. Speaking at the 2021 London Football Awards after being named Premier League Player of the Year, Kane said (via Sky Sports): "When I look back at the end of my career, these are all the things I'll go over and take in a little bit more, but the goal right now as a player is to win team trophies.

"As much as this is great, I want to be winning the biggest team prizes. We're not quite doing that. It's bittersweet, but it is what it is."

Fail to collect any silverware this season, and it would not be a surprise to see Kane push for a move next summer.

With a serial winner in Antonio Conte in charge, though, Spurs definitely have a chance of claiming some sort of trophy come the end of the campaign. And should they do that, perhaps they will be able to ward off Bayern's interest in their £81m-rated talisman.
