Roger Federer bowed out of professional tennis recently, taking to the court for the final time at the Laver Cup where he played doubles with on-court rival, Rafael Nadal.

Both were very emotional at the end of proceedings, with the pair shedding a few tears, with the match signalling the end of an era.

A tennis world without the 20-time Grand Slam champion seems hard to accept, but we’ll have to move on and reminisce about all the classic matches from the Swiss ace who dominated the sport to be deemed the greatest of all time in many people’s eyes.

Roger Federer magic moment

Despite the occasion of Federer’s last match dominating proceedings, magic on the court still managed to grab some headlines.

During the match, despite his glittering career, Federer still managed to shock us all with one of his shots during the game. It’s not the first time Federer has forced jaws to hit the floor when playing, with him still managing to do just that on his final outing.

He managed to somehow squeeze the ball from a tight angle between the net and the post holding the net up, now that’s not something you see every day!

Fan recreates Roger Federer’s shot – fails miserably

When any moment in sport goes viral, especially a moment like that, fans will try and pull the shot off themselves at home, to see if they can mimic their heroes and produce their own viral moment.

So, it’s no surprise to see people took to their local courts to try their hand at the shot Federer played, although it’s one of those that you feel could take hundreds off attempts to get it right, with ridiculous precision needed to make it.

One fan has shared their attempt on social media, with the clip going viral itself, just not for the reason they would have wanted.

Video: The fan attempted shot that failed

Now that’s going to hurt in the morning! It’s enough to make your eyes water that contact. To hit the post at the perfect angle and pace will have been difficult enough for that exact consequence.

You could stand there all day and not manage to get the ball to rebound into your crown jewels, just like the actual shot itself.

The fan will see the pain from the shot eased with the effort going viral on Twitter. They got the correct end result, just for the wrong reasons!
