Chelsea manager Graham Potter could consider bringing Callum Hudson-Odoi back to Stamford Bridge in January, says journalist Pete O'Rourke.

The 21-year-old winger is currently on loan at Bayer Leverkusen, and O'Rourke thinks his impressive form there has caught Potter's attention.

What is the latest news involving Hudson-Odoi?

Hudson-Odoi recently hinted that Chelsea do have the option to recall him in January.

"I can’t really say [what will happen] because, at the end of the day, it’s not up to me," he told Sky Sports when discussing the possibility of returning to Stamford Bridge in the winter transfer window.

"I can only do what I can do now for the club and push myself to the max here and give everything that I can."

Prior to the above, German outlet Bild (via MailOnline) reported that there is a recall clause in Hudson-Odoi's loan deal and that Chelsea are considering triggering it. The £22.5m-rated youngster has already made six appearances for Leverkusen, assisting on his debut against Freiburg.

What has O'Rourke said about Hudson-Odoi and Chelsea?

O'Rourke does not think Hudson-Odoi's performances will go under the radar and is refusing to rule out Potter bringing him back to west London in January.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: "It will definitely be something that will make Potter sit up and take notice, Hudson-Odoi's performances at Leverkusen. He's performing really well.

"The only problem is, where does he see him fitting into his team at Chelsea? Could he see him fitting into a similar role? If he does, then maybe he might consider bringing him back."

Does Hudson-Odoi have a long-term future at Chelsea?

That looks to be the case, regardless of what happens in January. After his loan move to Leverkusen, Hudson-Odoi revealed that Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly refused to include a buy option in the deal.

"When a club is trying to get a player [on loan], they always want that option to buy at the end of the season," the England international said to the Mail on Sunday. "Todd was saying: 'Listen, we want you back here.'

"You're still on the radar of being wanted by the club. The way he's trying to set it up, there are a lot of young players he's trying to buy for the next few years. It shows he wants to integrate the players into the team and help them develop."

Considering the above, then, and the fact that Hudson-Odoi is only 21 years of age, he still has a big future at Stamford Bridge.
