Lionel Messi is used to fan attention wherever he goes. However, a few supporters got too close for the liking of security during Argentina's 3-0 friendly victory over Jamaica in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner only made a cameo appearance in the match at Red Bull Arena in New Jersey, replacing Lautaro Martinez with 34 minutes remaining.

In typical Messi fashion, that was plenty of time for him to make his mark on the encounter as the 35-year-old grabbed a late brace on the night.

Firstly, Messi made it 2-0 to the South American side with a fine individual effort four minutes from time, before doubling his tally by smashing a free-kick under the opposition's wall and into the bottom corner shortly afterwards.

Following his first goal of the evening, a shirtless Messi fan made his way onto the playing surface in an attempt to get the Paris Saint-Germain star to autograph his back.

To his credit, Messi took the request in his stride - and was about to sign for the individual concerned when security intervened.

Quickly tackling the fan, stewards made sure that he would leave the stadium without his autograph. It's hard not to feel some sympathy for the supporter, especially as the player seemed perfectly willing to oblige.

Perhaps spurred on the relative success of the first supporter - who at least got to briefly interact with Messi - a second man decided to grab his own fleeting moment with footballing royalty.

Filming his entire journey from the stands onto the pitch, the fan clambered down to pitch level and then swiftly made a dart for Messi.

While the first supporter seemed to approach in a respectful manner, this second fan was screaming at Messi as he drew closer.

"Leo, Leo! Di amo [I love you] Leo," he bellowed, as security wrestled him to the ground. He continued to scream that same sentence as he was being handcuffed on the deck.

The Barcelona legend appears shell-shocked at the sudden commotion unfolding in front of him.

As much as Messi clearly appreciates the love of his fans across the globe, there's a time and a place to express it - and this isn't the way to do so.

Despite this, we reckon it's far from the last time we'll see such crazy scenes where Messi is concerned.
