Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack will be able to agree terms on a new contract without ‘too much hassle’, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 30-year-old has entered the final year of his existing £12,000-per-week deal at Ibrox and is yet to be offered a new deal by manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

What is the latest news involving Jack?

Jack arrived at Rangers from domestic rivals Aberdeen back in June 2017 under former boss Pedro Caixinha and has gone on to establish himself as a pivotal player for the club.

The Scotland international stated that it was ‘exciting times’ for the Glasgow giants upon his arrival as they were beginning to re-establish themselves as a dominant force in Scottish football.

"From what I've heard the club are making a few signings and bringing in a good calibre of player, so it's exciting times and I know there are really good players already here as well," Jack said.

A report from the Scottish Sun back in June claimed that it is unlikely the tough tackling dynamo would want to move on from Rangers and that he could see out his career at the club.

However, it also claimed that Jack could be tempted to agree a pre-contract switch in January ‘should the right offer come in’, leaving his long-term future up in the air.

What has O’Rourke said about Jack?

When asked if personal terms would be easy to sort in talks between the club and player, O’Rourke informed GiveMeSport that he believes so and reckons negotiations could be ‘pretty straightforward’.

He said: “Yeah, I think so. I don't think there'd be too much hassle or issue in this contract negotiation. I'm sure Ryan Jack will want to stay if Rangers want him to stay.

“I'm sure the player will quickly put pen to paper on this one, and if the player's happy and the club are happy, it's a deal that is pretty straightforward.”

How big a loss would Jack be?

Jack has registered 12 goals and 12 assists in 161 appearances for Rangers across all competitions, picking up one Scottish Premiership title and one Scottish Cup along the way.

Nevertheless, the 6 foot ace has suffered with several injury setbacks in recent years, reportedly missing 110 games through fitness problems since joining from Aberdeen.

Jack’s inability to stay off the treatment table may be a major concern for Van Bronckhorst and is likely to be the only sticking point when it comes to agreeing terms on a new deal.

Only time will tell if a satisfactory agreement can be reached, but everyone associated with Rangers will surely be hoping Jack remains at the club for years to come.
