Lamar Jackson has been slammed by ESPN broadcaster Chris Russo for his performances with the Baltimore Ravens during the postseason.

Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens, at least on offense, are looking pretty much unstoppable right now, as they lead the NFL in points scored through 3 games with 99, rank 4th when it comes to total yards with 1,141 and currently lead the league in passing touchdowns with 10, all thanks to Jackson.

And whilst they have had their problems on the defensive side of the ball, giving up the most yards in the league with 1,374 and blowing a 35-14 lead in their Week 2 game against the Miami Dolphins, you can’t blame that on Jackson, and in fairness if he’s able to carry on playing the way that he has been, they are more likely going to win more than they lose.

It’s why there has been some talk surrounding him being considered as the league’s MVP for this year as he has set a pretty impressive benchmark for other quarterbacks to try and chase between now and the end of the season, and if he carries on the way he has then there’s no reason to think he can’t win the award again, having of course already won it in 2019.

However, that all concerns what will happen during the regular season, what happens in the postseason is a different matter, and Jackson knows that all too well.

Lamar Jackson drops off in the big time

During his time with the Ravens, they have gone to the playoffs three times, but his performances have been lacking to say the least, as he holds a record of 1-3, has completed just 55.9% of his passes, has thrown five interceptions against just three touchdowns and the Ravens have only reached 20 points once.

There is no doubting his prowess and what he can do in the regular season, as he came into the season putting up a total of 13,640 yards both in the air and on the ground whilst providing a total of 105 touchdowns, but when it matters most, he kind of goes missing.

And it’s that lack of success that Chris ‘Mad Dog’ Russo took issue with when talking about the 25-year-old

Speaking on ESPN’s First Take Russo, as part of a discussion about Jackson and his ability to win games, pointed out his numbers in the postseason and as a result, he still has some concerns.

Given that this is a contract year for Jackson, the concern is legitimate, as his performances there, should the Ravens reach the playoffs, could end up having a big impact on how much he can negotiate for come the end of the season when they are likely going to re-open contract talks.
