UFC president Dana White has praised Bo Nickal following the wrestling sensation’s second win on the Contender Series.

He may have only made his mixed martial arts debut in June, but Bo Nickal is already one of the hottest prospects in the entire sport.

The amateur wrestling star has spent the last few years carving out a reputation for himself as one of the most impressive athletes in the combat game today. Now, at the age of 26, he’s managed to step up to the big leagues and earn a contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Nickal first appeared on our screens through iKON FC and after a quick knockout success, he followed that up with another rapid finish - this time against Zachary Borrego on Dana White’s Contender Series.

White opted to hold off on signing Nickal to a full-time deal and instead gave him another crack on DWCS, and it took less than two months for Bo to once again prove his worth by submitting Donovan Beard in less than 60 seconds.

Now, the youngster is officially on the roster, and Dana White couldn’t stop saying great things about him during his post-fight media scrum on Tuesday.

“My god, my god. Yeah, incredible, man. The kid is incredible. He looks great. Obviously it was a big step up in competition this time, fighting somebody 7-1, reach advantage, height advantage. The kid’s confidence in himself is unbelievable, his game is amazingly well-rounded, yeah, it was impressive.”

White was then asked whether or not the fact they didn’t sign him after his first win was now justified given what he pulled off in the sequel.

“After what you saw tonight, you know I made the right decision. He got highlighted once, SportsCenter has been talking about him for three days coming into tonight, and he performs the way he does? Couldn’t have done it any better, if I must say so myself.”

The future is bright

Everyone from Jorge Masvidal to Dana and beyond has been singing the praises of Bo Nickal and it isn’t exactly hard to see why. He can strike, wrestle, grapple, and seems to have the composure of a 15-year veteran.

Alas, it’s going to take a while for him to make his way to the top, and the popular opinion is that the UFC will take their time with building his star power.

He made it known earlier this week after his sophomore victory that he’s interested in a bout with Khamzat Chimaev, one of the company’s top stars.

He won’t get his wish just yet but who knows what could be in store if he keeps on climbing the ladder.
