Grand Theft Auto fans are after every little crumb of information on the new game these days, and the latest leak may not exactly fill them with happiness.

Disappointing. Very disappointing.

Rockstar — who are responsible for the development of the Grand Theft Auto video game — recently experienced a massive cyber theft attack as about 90 minutes of the game’s development footage was leaked alongside screenshots and source codes.

A tweet by an industry expert in the way of Adrien Perea has seemingly confirmed the release date for the latest series of the game, where he stated: “Grand Theft Auto VI is set to release in 2025.”

This followed the ill-fated attack on the action-adventure game as snippets of its new production was published online without the consent of the gaming company.

However, an investigation has commenced into phishing out the orchestrators of the heinous crime and the prime suspect, who is a UK-based teenager, has been arrested on allegations relating to the cyber theft.

The City of London Police had earlier announced via its official Twitter handle that they have secured the arrest of a 17-year-old over a link to the cyber attack on Rockstar Games.

“On the evening of Thursday 22 September 2022, the City of London Police arrested a 17-year-old in Oxfordshire on suspicion of hacking, as part of an investigation supported by the National Crime Agency’s National Cyber Crime Unit (NCCU). He remains in police custody.”

First off, the one and only Cristiano Ronaldo. But what year did he feature as the cover star?

Further substantiating the stand of the police department, a gaming journalist also took to Twitter to affirm that the arrest of the young teenage was as a result of a reasonable suspicion of perpetrating the hack on Grand Theft Auto VI.

He said: “A source says it’s connected to the hack on Rockstar Games and possibly Uber Technologies.

“The 17-year-old hacking suspect was arrested in Oxfordshire and is believed to be connected to a group identifying itself as “Lapsus$,” a group that organises primarily via Telegram channels,” he continued.

Even though the source of the leakage of the Grand Theft Auto VI remains a mystery, the game is still in its development stage, but has been projected to be released in 2025.
