Stevenson is preparing to move up to the lightweight division following his latest victory over Robson Conceicao.
The row erupted after Garcia made several comments about Stevenson a few days after his win in his hometown of Newark in the state of New Jersey.
The Newark native pitched a perfect shutout with official scores of 117-109, 117-109, and 118-108.
Boxing News – Ryan Garcia and Shakur Stevenson in social media spat over roughhouse tactics
However, Garcia has essentially accused him of using roughhouse tactics to his advantage.
“I don’t comment on a lot of fights but I’m not going to lie guys that fight with Shakur really it kind of got me a little p***ed off,” Garcia said on Instagram Live. “And not because Shakur won or anything, it’s great, he was supposed to win, but it’s the fact he got away with the most low blows I’ve seen somebody get away with and he does it a lot.
“And it’s nothing against Shakur but you just can’t throw that many low blows without realising you’re throwing low blows and to me that ref missed everything.
“It was a horrible display of fouls where you were just like what is going on here? But again nothing against Shakur but man you’ve got to keep your punches up. I counted like a hundred of them.”
Replying to a fan, he said: “No Shakur does not wash me, stop it.
“Just stop it. He can’t even wash that other guy that he fought because he should have got him out of there. He definitely can’t wash me or whatever you were trying to say.
“He’s not knocking nobody out. The worst thing he could do is jab me to death I guess.”
Stevenson responded to Garcia by writing on Twitter: “Ryan chin suspect tell him shut up he just a walking come up… Everybody and they mommas in line to cash a check for f***ing him up. He sweet fr [sic].”
In a follow-up tweet, he added: “My name buzzing right now so you know the social media king gotta [sic] add his two cents in.”
