Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi is 'happy' at Selhurst Park and will not feel he has to move onto pastures new in order to become an England regular, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Eagles defender made the £18million switch from London rivals Chelsea last year and will be targeting a place in the Three Lions' squad which heads to Qatar for the World Cup next month.

What's the latest news involving Guehi?

Having been called up by England boss Gareth Southgate for the Nations League clashes with Italy and Germany, Guehi would have gone into the international break hoping to stake a claim for a place on the flight to the Middle East.

However, he returned to Palace having been deprived of any action and was unable to add to the three caps he gained earlier this year.

The disappointment came despite Guehi failing to miss a single minute of action since the campaign got underway thanks to becoming a key member of Palace's backline.

However, journalist Pete O'Rourke has previously told GIVEMESPORT that the 22-year-old has a 'good chance' of bagging a place in England's World Cup squad despite his lack of game-time during the final international break before the competition gets underway.

Guehi reached the milestone of 50 Palace appearances when former club Chelsea made the trip to Selhurst Park for a London derby on Saturday.

What has Dean Jones said about Guehi?

Jones believes Guehi is aware that he will need to be patient when it comes to attempting to break into the forefront of England chief Southgate's plans.

The journalist does not feel the centre-half will be seeking a move away from Palace in order to give himself a greater chance of breaking into the Three Lions' best XI.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "In terms of Guehi, from what I understand, he's happy with his role.

"He knows that breaking into the England line-up might require some patience and he's going to have to bide his time."

Should Palace fans be fearing a Guehi exit?

The Sun journalist Tom Barclay has previously told GIVEMESPORT that, when Guehi's move to Palace was finalised, Chelsea inserted a clause which allows them to match the bid of any interested parties from next summer.

However, the defender still has just shy of four years remaining on his Eagles contract, which is worth a little over £50,000-per-week, so his current employers are not in any rush to sanction his departure.

Patrick Vieira, who is enjoying his second season in the hot seat having been appointed as Palace's manager last year, will be confident of retaining Guehi's services for an extensive period.
