Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali are arguably the two greatest heavyweights to have ever stepped foot in a boxing ring.

It has often been debated over the years as to who would win if the two had ever fought each other in their prime?

Tyson dominated the division in the late 1980s and he became the youngest heavyweight champion in history when he beat Trevor Berbick at just 20 years old.

The Baddest Man on the Planet struck fear into almost all opponents and he was known for being one of the hardest hitters in history.

Ali, however, has long been known as ‘The Greatest’ and he took part in some of the best fights of all time.

That includes the ‘Thrilla in Manilla’ against Joe Frazier and also ‘The Rumble in the Jungle’ against George Foreman, with both bouts still being talked about to this day.

But one man who knew both boxers well was WWE legend Ric Flair and he has given his verdict on who would have come out on top between Tyson and Ali.

Who wins in their prime; Ali or Tyson?

Speaking to DAZN, Flair said: “I’ve just [always] been a fan of Mike Tyson. I actually knew Muhammad Ali very well.

“There’s always comparisons in sports as there is in business. The only guy I ever thought that could stand in there with Ali was Mike in his prime.

“Two completely different styles but if Mike hits you, you’re going down.

“I love Mike to death, but I don’t think anybody in their primes could have beaten Ali. You look at his earlier fights. He was big. He was rangy. He had length.

“I don’t think he was ever considered a knockout artist but he could just outbox you. He could just dance around you and box.”

One thing is for sure, if the two could have fought in the same era, there would have without a doubt been firework.

Unfortunately, we can only guess who would have come out on top between them, but Flair has had his say and who are we to argue with a man who knew both well?
