UFC star Mark Madsen has called out Paddy Pimblett and believes his wrestling prowess would be 'too much' for the Liverpool MMA fighter.

Madsen, an Olympic silver medallist, will fight Drakkar Klose as part of the supporting cast of next month's UFC Fight Night 213 in Las Vegas.

Pimblett meanwhile is busy preparing to make a comeback of his own on December 10 at UFC 282.

But Madsen has been biding his time for a shot at Pimblett - and he wants to set up a fight after he has fought at the UFC Apex in October.

"Make no mistake, I would love to fight Paddy Pimblett," Madsen told GiveMeSport.com on behalf of VegasInsider. "I think that would be an interesting fight for both of us.

"So I haven't really thought about who I'm going to call out but Paddy is definitely on my radar."

When asked how the fight would play out, he replied: "Well, it's quite simple really.

"I think I would dismantle Paddy Pimblett. I think my wrestling would be too much for him. I think I would have too much power for him to handle.

"But I've got to give it to him. He's had a great run in the UFC so far. And I just think that it will be an amazing fight."

Madsen's next outing in the Octagon will see him take on Klose in an exciting lightweight matchup, which takes place at the UFC Apex on October 29.

An experienced pro himself, Madsen is well aware of what he is up against.

"I think the lightweight division is one of the toughest divisions in the UFC," he added.

"I mean the level, how compact it is, how close it is in the top 15, it's just amazing.

"I mean, naturally, you have a few exceptions here and there, but overall it's pretty tight.

"I think, if you look at the top 15, if you put together a random fight on any given day, a lot of guys will be able to beat each other.

"So I think it's one of the toughest divisions in the UFC for sure."

The pair clashed after Madsen received a public callout from Klose following his victory over Vinc Pichel earlier this year.

He explained: "So the whole situation with Drakkar actually came about after my last fight.

"I went out to California to open a Viking museum - Vikings are a big part of our history in Denmark - and my phone just went crazy. And it turned out that Drakkar actually called me out after one of his fights.

"So this is a fight that Drakkar wanted, he yelled at me to be a man, but hey I answered the call and signed the contract.

"Let's not forget, this is a fight that he wanted. Now I'm going to show him why it was foolish of him to call me out."
