Lionel Messi scored an incredible free-kick for Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday evening.

The Argentine forward was in the starting lineup for his side's Ligue 1 game against Nice at Parc des Princes.

And he opened the scori ngwith a wonderful goal from a set-piece.

In the 12th minute, PSG were given a free-kick some 30 yards out. Messi decided to have a go but his effort sailed just wide of the post.

He was given a chance to make amends 15 minutes later.

PSG were given a free-kick roughly 25 yards out when Dante felled Messi just outside the box.

It looked as if Neymar would take the free-kick but he stepped over the ball and allowed Messi to take centre stage.

The 35-year-old then dispatched his effort with aplomb as his glorious strike flew beyond Kasper Schmeichel and into the top corner.

Schmeichel was left rooted to the spot as Messi's effort sailed into the back of the net.

It was fitting that the advertising boards changed from 'AUTOHERO' to 'GOAT' just as Messi made contact with the ball.

Messi is one of the best free-kick takers of all-time. He makes them look like penalties.

But, perhaps surprisingly, that was Messi's first goal from a free-kick in a PSG shirt.

We dare say it won't be the last.
