Chris Smalling gave a post-match interview in perfect Italian after scoring the winner for Roma against Inter Milan on Sunday.

Smalling headed home at the San Siro with 15 minutes remaining to give Jose Mourinho's side a 2-1 victory.

It left his manager, who was watching on the team's bus in the car park, delighted as he served a one-match touchline ban.

But if that winner wasn't enough, Smalling then gave a post-match interview in perfect Italian.

While we can't claim to speak Italian ourselves, you can tell Smalling is confidently speaking the native language and appears to express himself impressively.

What did Smalling say after his winner vs Inter Milan?

“I’m very happy about the win,” Smalling told DAZN after the game.

“This was such an important game to win, we must continue on this path because on Thursday we play Real Betis.

“We fought hard until the end, we showed true team spirit tonight,” Smalling added. “I hope I can continue like this and score more goals for my team.

“We have a good team, we don’t just rely on 11 starters. We can achieve great objectives this year.”

How has Smalling played this season?

Smalling has been impressive for Roma this season, playing in every Serie A game as they sit sixth in the table.

His goal against Inter wasn't the only winner he's scored this season, either.

In the second game of the campaign, he scored the only goal of the game during a 1-0 win over Cremonese.

If he continues this form, he will no doubt give Gareth Southgate something to think about ahead of the World Cup with current centre back, Harry Maguire, continuing to flounder.
