Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will be concerned with Kieran Tierney's injury record and the size of his squad, says journalist Dean Jones.

While the 25-year-old has managed to feature in most of the Gunners' Premier League fixtures so far this season, he has not always been available for selection during his time in north London.

How many games has Tierney played in the current campaign?

Tierney has appeared in all but one of Arsenal's league matches, making three starts in total for Arteta's side.

Last season, however, the Scottish left-back, who has been described as an "outstanding player" by former Arsenal striker John Hartson, missed a lot of games after requiring knee surgery.

The campaign prior, it was also a similar story, with Tierney sidelined for multiple matches because of injury.

Simply put, injury has been a recurring theme for Tierney at the Emirates following his £25m move (via BBC Sport) from Celtic back in 2019.

What has Jones said about Tierney?

Tierney returned to Arsenal during the recent international break after a little injury scare, and while he was fit enough to feature in the 3-1 win against Tottenham on Saturday, Jones thinks Arteta will still have some concerns about his fitness record.

Speaking about the Scotland international and Arsenal's squad as a whole, the journalist said: "Arsenal have a few injury problems that they've got to contend with right now and they don't have the deepest squad in the world, so it will be a slight concern."

Can Arsenal win the title if all of their players stay fit?

Despite having a few injury problems, with it being recently confirmed that Emile Smith Rowe is likely to be out of action until December, Arsenal are having a brilliant season so far.

Sitting in first place on 21 points, they are firmly in the title race. However, even if Tierney and his team-mates remain fit, it is hard to imagine them going all the way, and that is largely because of the side currently behind them.

Manchester City eventually overtaking the north London club seems like an inevitability, especially with the addition of Erling Haaland and his current form.

In just eight Premier League games, the Norway international has already scored 14 goals, including three hat-tricks. Finishing above a team with that kind of firepower is probably going to be an impossible task.

Having not been in the Champions League for years, though, a top-four finish was probably Arsenal's goal heading into the season, and that certainly looks achievable.
