Daniel Cormier is not expected to face Brock Lesnar at WWE Crown Jewel, despite rumours to the contrary.

Over the weekend, Ariel Helwani announced that Cormier will be involved with WWE's Extreme Rules pay-per-view on October 8.

The UFC Hall of Famer will serve as the special guest referee for the Fight Pit match between Seth Rollins and Matt Riddle, leading to speculation that he's going to be working more with WWE moving forwards.

Is Daniel Cormier v Brock Lesnar going to happen in WWE?

Helwani reported that Cormier will be the special guest referee for the highly-anticipated match this weekend, and fans have speculation that this could open the door to DC having an in-ring run with WWE.

And after their confrontation at UFC 226 in 2018, fans are of the belief that Cormier could work with Lesnar could he come into the WWE as an in-ring competitor.

With Crown Jewel taking place on November 5, and Brock without an opponent for the show, rumours have circulated this weekend that the two former UFC stars could square off inside a WWE ring.

While fans have learned to "never say never" when it comes to the wacky world of WWE, reports from Dave Meltzer suggest it's unlikely that Cormier v Lesnar happens next month.

Speaking on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer said that he doesn't suspect the match will happen next month, via WrestleTalk.

There’s people who are speculating maybe he and Brock do their match. I don’t know. I think if he wants to do pro-wrestling at this stage of his life, and my gut is that… I don’t know. I don’t think he wants to. I haven’t talked to him about this in so long, years.

However, Meltzer went on to stress that while he doesn't think Cormier will be a full-time wrestler, a one-off WrestleMania match for the 43-year-old against Lesnar "could" happen.

Daniel will never go full-time, I’m sure he will never do full time WWE wrestling, but would he do a match at WrestleMania? I could see it. Would he do it with Lesnar? I could see it. He’s a big wrestling fan, he might wanna do it.

When will Daniel Cormier debut for WWE?

Cormier will definitely be at Extreme Rules on October 8, given that he's going to be involved in arguably the biggest match on the show.

However, some have even speculated that the former MMA star could feature on tonight's episode of Monday Night Raw to help promote his appearance and the big Rollins v Riddle match.

It's worth noting that WWE has announced Cormier for tonight's show, but there's every chance that he does show up following this weekend's announcement.

You can watch Extreme Rules on October 8 live in the US on Peacock and in all other international markets on the WWE Network.
