Wolverhampton Wanderers have hit a major stumbling block in their pursuit of Ruben Amorim as the Sporting boss is refusing to quit the Portuguese giants for Molineux, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.
Wolves, who find themselves in the Premier League's relegation zone, are on the lookout for a new manager after head coach Bruno Lage was sacked by chairman Jeff Shi at the weekend.

According to The Sun, Amorim does not have a desire to walk away from Sporting in favour of the Wolves job.
The report suggests the 37-year-old, who has been in charge of the Portuguese outfit since March 2020, has a buyout clause worth upwards of £20million written into his contract but he does not want to turn his back on Champions League football in favour of a potential relegation battle.
It comes as a blow for Wolves as it quickly emerged that the board had set their sights on appointing Amorim after Lage was axed.
Lage, who had been at the Molineux helm since the summer of 2021, was shown the door less than 24 hours after a 2-0 defeat to West Ham United.
It is understood that the Portuguese had a frosty relationship with members of his squad before losing the faith of the hierarchy.
What has Dharmesh Sheth said about Amorim?
Sheth understands that Amorim will not become the next Wolves manager as he is not willing to turn his back on Sporting.
The Sky Sports reporter feels the key decision-makers in the West Midlands will only succeed in their pursuit if a change of heart leads to their target expressing his wish to leave the Jose Alvalade Stadium.
Sheth told GIVEMESPORT: "Sporting started their Champions League campaign with two wins out of two, including that victory against Tottenham.
"Sporting can stop a manager going, of course, but if the manager says 'I'm going to quit', then they might be in a position.
"But all the noises coming out of Portugal is that Amorim wouldn't be quitting Sporting for Wolves."
Would Amorim be a good appointment by Wolves?
Sporting may sit seventh in the Portuguese top flight at the moment, but Amorim has enjoyed plenty of success in the dugout.
He has clinched silverware on five occasions during the early stages of his managerial career, which emphasises that he would bring a winning mentality to Wolves if they were to get their man.
Over the course of 87 domestic fixtures at the Sporting helm, Amorim has only tasted defeat on nine occasions.
