Leeds United winger Luis Sinisterra was ‘naïve’ to get sent off against Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon but he will have learned from his error, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Jesse Marsch’s side held the visitors to a 0-0 draw at Elland Road, despite playing nearly the entire second half with 10 men, but the manager will likely have been frustrated with his summer signing.

Saturday’s draw with Steven Gerrard’s side will have likely left Marsch with mixed feelings, as the visitors came into the clash sitting just two points above the relegation zone.

However, a moment of madness from £21 million summer-signing Sinisterra saw a red card produced, as the Colombian blocked a free-kick before he had retreated the necessary distance, earning him a second yellow in the 48^th minute.

After the game, Patrick Bamford told the club website that he agreed with the referee’s decision and labelled his teammate ‘naïve’.

He added that it was ‘weird’ to see the 23-year-old so downbeat in the dressing room after full-time.

What has Jones said on Sinisterra?

Jones has concurred with Bamford, that the Leeds star was naïve in his decision to block the second-half free-kick.

However, the journalist adds that Sinisterra will no doubt learn from the moment and will remain a crucial player to Marsch going forward.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “It's a frustration and one that Leeds don't need. He'll learn from it. I'm sure he's as annoyed as anybody else with the fact that it happened and he allowed it to happen.

“But the thing is, he is a game changer. He's one of the players that's going to define how well this season goes for them. There probably was some naivety. But hopefully it's a lesson he learns from and it doesn't happen again.”
