Manchester City are "keeping a close eye" on Bukayo Saka's situation at Arsenal, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The £70,000-per-week per-week star is yet to sign a new deal at the Emirates Stadium and has been linked with a shock move to the Premier League champions.

What's the latest news involving Saka?

Saka has been a key player for the Gunners in recent years, but his current contract has less than two years remaining, leaving his long-term future in north London in some doubt.

The Daily Mail have claimed the England international has been offered fresh terms, which will see him become one of the club's highest paid players.

But 90min believe that Arsenal are 'worried' about Manchester City's interest, with Pep Guardiola's men constantly linked with the attacker in recent months, along with Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.

Mikel Arteta's side are confident that Saka will eventually sign a contract extension, but Jones believes that City are watching the situation closely.

What did Jones say about Saka?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "It makes sense that Arsenal get Saka tied up as soon as possible to a new deal, I'm told Man City are keeping a close eye on this situation and think he would be a great fit for them - but they'll only move if he shows any doubts over his Arsenal situation."

How has Saka performed this season?

Saka enjoyed the best campaign of his short career in 2021-2022, registering 18 goal contributions in 38 Premier League games.

But the 21-year-old is yet to really get going this season, even though Arsenal are going great guns at the top of the table.

His cameo off the bench for England against Germany last month - where he linked up well with Reece James on the right and assisted Mason Mount's goal - was a timely reminder of what he's capable of and further evidence why City want to sign him, but his general form for his boyhood club hasn't been great.

He's still chipped in with four assists and one goal in eight top-flight starts, which is proof that he's still able to contribute when not being at his best.

But if Arsenal want to continue fighting at the top of the Premier League standings, they'll eventually need Saka to raise his game and start coming up with more consistent performances.
