Chelsea manager Graham Potter would "love" to talk to Romelu Lukaku about him potentially staying at Stamford Bridge next season, says transfer insider Dean Jones.

The 29-year-old striker is currently on loan at Inter Milan and is happy with life in Italy.

Does Lukaku want to return to Chelsea?

Probably not. The Belgian, of course, initially left Inter for the Blues last summer in a £97.5m deal (via BBC Sport) but had a torrid time in west London.

In total, he scored just eight goals in the Premier League under Thomas Tuchel.

Since then, Lukaku has returned to Inter on loan and has made it clear that he is delighted to be back at the Italian club.

"It's like coming home. I think my family and I had a really good time in Milan thanks to the people, the fans and my team-mates," Lukaku said (via MailOnline) after rejoining Simone Inzaghi's side. "From the first day when I arrived here, everyone helped me a lot. I'm really happy."

What has Jones said about Potter, Lukaku and Chelsea?

While Lukaku seems more than content with life at the San Siro, Jones says Potter still wants to talk to him about a Chelsea return.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: "I’m told Potter would love to speak to Lukaku about how he sees the future opening up, but I would be surprised if he comes back. He loves Italy and it’s probably a good place to settle now."

Should Chelsea keep hold of Lukaku?

No. It is probably in everyone's best interest for Lukaku, who has been described as a "phenomenal player" by FourFourTwo's Conor Pope, to remain at Inter.

Again, Lukaku is happy right now, which did not look to be the case during his second spell in west London, while Chelsea have already moved on from the Belgium international.

They brought in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang over the summer, while RB Leipzig's Christopher Nkunku looks set to join the Gabonese striker at Stamford Bridge next year.

As well as Aubameyang, the Blues also have Kai Havertz to call upon, while youngster Armando Broja has been pushing for a start this season following his return from Southampton.

The 21-year-old has made five appearances from off the bench in the Premier League, including in Potter's first domestic game in charge against Crystal Palace, so it seems he has a role in the squad.

Considering all of the above, what can actually be gained from dragging Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge? Nothing good probably.
