Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch is bringing back the aggressive and combative nature of the club from past eras, after his side earned another red card on Sunday evening, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Aston Villa were held to a 0-0 draw at Elland Road despite the hosts playing nearly the entire second half with 10 men.

What is the latest from Leeds?

Marsch’s men have now failed to win any of their last four top-flight matches, losing to Brentford and Brighton as well as drawing to Villa and Everton.

The Whites will have been confident of picking up all three points against Steven Gerrard’s charges on Sunday, with the Villans coming into the game hovering ominously above the relegation zone.

But a game to forget from £21 million summer signing Luis Sinisterra left the hosts a man light, receiving two bookings for an unnecessary foul and illegally blocking a free-kick.

The Colombian was heavily criticised as a result, with Sky Sports pundit Micah Richards describing it as a ‘strange decision’, while his teammate Patrick Bamford labelled him naïve.

In total, Leeds received four bookings in what was a feisty encounter with Marc Roca, Robin Koch and Rodrigo also having their names taken.

What has Jones said on the situation?

Jones believes that an aggressive nature has become a characteristic of this Leeds side under Marsch’s guidance.

The journalist adds that the American is bringing that back, with teams of the past famed for their no-nonsense approach on the field.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “This has kind of become a trait of this team. I know that, historically, Leeds have been a team that like a bit of aggro and it feels like Jesse Marsch is bringing that back.”

How is Leeds’ discipline under Marsch?

In this year’s fair play table, the West Yorkshire giants sit in 13th place, having accrued 15 yellow cards and one red.

Newly promoted Fulham sit rock-bottom with 23 bookings and a straight red card to their names this season.

Last term saw Leeds finish comfortably at the foot of the table, however, racking up a remarkable 100 yellow cards and three red cards, with two of those coming under Marsch’s guidance.

The American has also been shown a red card this season after losing his temper during his side’s 5-2 defeat to Brentford last month.
