Conor McGregor has been absent from the UFC for over a year now, with his loss to Dustin Poirier keeping him out of action for a prolonged period of time with a broken leg.

He’s been back in full training for quite a while now and been given the all clear from the medical professionals, yet he doesn’t appear to be in a rush to return.

There are no concrete rumours of a fight in Dana White’s promotion, but there’s plenty of speculation around who he will take on when he finally makes his return to the sport.

What’s next for Conor McGregor?

No one knows what is next for McGregor, although his recent Twitter Q&A would suggest that he will be back sooner rather than later, with him confirming that he will be a welterweight when he next steps foot in the Octagon.

He has been rumoured to be making a return to boxing, though, with Floyd Mayweather looking for a second fight with Notorious allegedly, with potential for the bout to be either professional or an exhibition.

All we know is it appears a return will be on the cards soon for McGregor, which is music to the ears of most MMA fans, especially given how his last fight ended, it would be a shame if that was to be the final time we saw him in action.

Conor McGregor’s new move

McGregor is clearly gearing up for a return, with him sharing a new clip on his Instagram account which is his latest footage from his sparring sessions.

Video: Conor McGregor’s new shot

In it, he ends with a brutal strike to the face of his sparring partner, taking him back and stumbling towards the edge of the cage. However, he set it up with a fake spinning kick just beforehand.

When uploading the clip, he captioned the post with: “What’s up my students! Here is another brand spankin’ “Conor McGregor Created” shot for you all. I know you’ve never seen this one before. Like the rest of them. A fake spinning back kick into a back hand rifle.

“I call the shot ‘the tiocfaidh ar la’ Our day will come. Shout out and tag and support all the companies in that cage and that gym, they are mine. Praise be to the hours I’ve put into my craft. If you’ve seen the amount of hours I’ve put into my mastery, it wouldn’t seem so masterful at all.”
