WWE: Ex-World Champion details backstage fight at WrestleMania

WWE held WrestleMania 32 in April 2016

WWE WrestleMania is the biggest show of the year, but things don’t always go to plan backstage.

As is the case within any field, arguments can sometimes take place within the workplace, and WWE is no exception.

In a recent interview, Alberto Del Rio spoke about a fight that took place backstage at WrestleMania 32 in April 2016.

What happened backstage at WrestleMania 32?

WrestleMania 32 took place at AT&T Stadium in Dallas in April 2016, widely regarded as one of the biggest shows in WWE history.

However, things weren’t totally running smoothly while it was happening, as noted by Alberto Del Rio.

The former WWE Superstar has provided details on an alleged backstage fight during the show while speaking to Sportskeeda for a recent interview, via WrestleTalk.

“Yeah, there was a big fight backstage but on that one, it was not me creating that altercation. The other two and I, we had to put someone in his place backstage before going out. This is one minute before we went out to the ring, and one of us, I’m not gonna say who, one of us had to tell this person, ‘Listen, you mother f. We’re done with you. You’re gonna go out and do this because you’re a this, and you’re a that.’ So yes, one minute before we went out in that huge, packed stadium, an altercation was happening backstage. You know, it’s part of wrestling. One of the members of the League of Nations grabbed this other member of the League of Nations, grabbed him by the neck, and put them against the wall like that. So that’s all I can say about it.”

What else happened with the League of Nations at WrestleMania 32?

As the former World Heavyweight Champion explains, there was in-fighting between the League of Nations, with one member of the group having to be lectured by the others.

For context, the League of Nations’ Rusev, Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio defeated New Day’s Xavier Woods, Big E and Kofi Kingston at the show.

After the match, the League of Nations was attacked by Hall of Famers Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Mick Foley after the fact.

Wade Barrett, the other member of the group, was then kicked out of the stable the following night on Raw in what was his final appearance in WWE until his return in 2020.

Speaking of Del Rio, there are always rumours that the 45-year-old is returning to WWE, but those always seem to be shut down pretty quickly.
