WWE Superstar Seth Rollins once got into trouble with John Cena for using an ice pack after one of his matches.

Wrestling is a rather strange sport, often built on traditions and unwritten rules that seem to be rather outdated in the 21st century.

Rollins felt the full force of these strange protocols after an interaction with Cena backstage at a WWE show in 2012.

What happened between John Cena and Seth Rollins?

A story has circulated, courtesy of Tap Out Corner, detailing a rather strange backstage interaction between Cena and Rollins in WWE.

Shortly after his arrival onto the main roster in 2012, Rollins was caught icing his neck by Cena, who wasn't best pleased.

Cena asked Seth how many matches he'd had on the main roster, and the future WWE Champion replied by saying he'd only had three.

You can check out the video describing the alleged story below, which does make for rather interesting viewing...

As you can see from the footage above, newer WWE wrestlers aren't supposed to use ice packs, with the protocol being that they haven't put their bodies through enough to warrant needing them.

The same thing happened with Summer Rae and Randy Orton, according to the video, which claims that the former WWE Champion was unhappy with Summer for icing her foot after a match at the beginning of her career.

The story serves as proof that while backstage interactions within wrestling have come a long way over recent years, there are still quite a few unwritten rules that seem rather outdated.

What are WWE's plans for Seth Rollins & John Cena

Rollins is set to compete in a Fight Pit match with Matt Riddle this weekend at Extreme Rules in what has all the makings of one of WWE's matches of the year.

To add to the spectacle, it was announced over the weekend that UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier will be serving as the special guest referee for the match.

Two nights later, Rollins will challenge Bobby Lashley for the United States Championship on Raw in a match that many fans are of the belief that the former Universal Champion will win.

As for Cena, it seems like the WWE megatar could be set to not wrestle in a year for the first time since arriving on WWE's main roster in 2002, with it being unlikely that he'll work a match at any stage this year.
