Beth Mead has been named England Womenâs Player of the Year after a brilliant performance at Euro 2022.
The 27-year-old was selected by fans in a vote on social media as the stand-out player in an historic 12 months for the Lionesses.
Arsenal teammate Leah Williamson and Barcelona star Keira Walsh finished second and third respectively.
Why did Beth Mead win England Womenâs Player of the Year?
Mead enjoyed a spectacular year with the Lionesses, scoring 20 times in 19 matches to break Jimmy Greavesâs long-standing record for the most goals in one season for England.
She hit the back of the net six times during Euro 2022, helping England to its first major football title since 1966.
As a result of her performances, Mead won the Euro 2022 Golden Boot and was named the Player of the Tournament.

She has also since been nominated for the UEFA Player of the Year and the Ballon DâOr Feminin.
Mead was surprised with the news that she was England Womenâs Player of the Year by teammates Millie Bright and Rachel Daly.
The Lionesses are currently training for their highly-anticipated match against the US, which is set to take place at a sold-out Wembley tomorrow.
Mead responded to the accolade on Twitter, writing: "Honoured to have been named England player of the year. I couldnât of done it without my amazing teammates. Also a huge thank you to everyone who voted ð´ó §ó ¢ó ¥ó ®ó §ó ¿â¤ï¸".

Beth Mead joins Bukayo Saka as England Player of the Year
Mead is equally as important for Arsenal as she is for England, and the forward is already topping the goalscoring charts in the Womenâs Super League.
She has scored three times for the Gunners in just two matches so far, also setting up two more goals for her teammates.

Mead is not the only Arsenal player making a splash for her country, however. Bukayo Saka, who stars in the Premier League, was named England Menâs Player of the Year last month.
Saka played nine times across the course of the international season and scored three times, including a man-of-the-match performance on his birthday during the 4-0 victory over Andorra at Wembley.
The 21-year-old was selected by England fans over Declan Rice and Harry Kane in second and third respectively.
