Tottenham should start midfielder Yves Bissouma against his former club Brighton & Hove Albion, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

The summer signing has been starved of opportunities following his £25m move from the Seagulls, but Bridge reckons now is the time to unleash him.

What's the latest news involving Bissouma?

When Bissouma arrived at Tottenham, he looked certain to walk straight into Antonio Conte's midfield.

But some two months into the season, his only start came when Rodrigo Bentancur was injured and missed out at West Ham.

Bissouma has made eight appearances in all competitions, but he's racked up just 160 minutes in total and was overlooked by Conte against Frankfurt in midweek when the north Londoners were in desperate need of some fresh legs from the bench.

Conte was recently quizzed on Bissouma's lack of game-time and revealed the Mali international is struggling tactically.

"The only player that is struggling a bit with the tactical aspect is Bissouma, but also he is improving a lot in every aspect," the Italian said.

"I am sure when we start again and play 12 games, for sure he is another player I can count on, but I try to take the best decision for the player because I want to protect the player."

What did Bridge say about Bissouma?

Despite Conte's comments last month, Bridge reckons that the Amex Stadium is the perfect time to hand Bissouma a start.

He told GIVEMESPORT: "I think this is the time to bring in Bissouma, it's a lot to ask Hojbjerg and Bentancur to play three games in a week off the back of a couple of tough international matches as well.

"Brighton looked really good at Liverpool, they were absolutely fearless, they were probably a bit gutted they actually ended up drawing the game, but they clearly have got an edge at the moment.

"They weren't afraid to take on Liverpool at Anfield and if they weren't afraid to take on Liverpool at Anfield, they won't be afraid to take on Tottenham at the Amex."

Who could make way for Bissouma?

If Conte does end up starting Bissouma, with the Tottenham boss seemingly reluctant to change his preferred 3-4-3 formation, one of Hojbjerg or Bentancur will have to drop out.

Fans have been calling for a tactical change and a switch to 3-5-2, with a midfield three supporting Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane up front.

Should that happen, Richarlison is the man most likely to lose his place in the team.
