Thierry Henry is widely regarded as the greatest player in Premier League history. The jewel in the crown of Arsenal's 'Invincibles' and the goalscoring phenomena with the most Golden Boots in the competition's history, Henry elevated England's top-flight to heights never seen before between 1999 and 2007.And what made him so entertaining to watch was the way that he carried himself on the pitch: often strutting around with a matador-like nonchalance that struck fear into his opponents. While the humility and introversion of players like Lionel Messi is forever charming, there will always be a time and a place for superstars who channel a little bit of arrogance because it can often be captivating to watch.Let's face it, unless you're on the receiving end of it as a rival fan, you can't help smiling when you see somebody like Cristiano Ronaldo crowning off a wonder goal with a cheeky celebration that makes it look as though it didn't cost him an ounce of energy.

Henry's free-kick stunner vs Wigan

And that entire mood - vibe, if you will - has arguably never been better demonstrated than when Henry scored a stunning free-kick for Arsenal against Wigan Athletic during the 2005/06 season.

Wearing that most legendary of burgundy home kits to mark the club's final year at Highbury, Henry whipped home a remarkable set-piece finish in off the post from fully 30 yards away.

It truly was one of the best free-kicks he ever scored in English football, but what made it so special was the celebration where he turned to referee Graham Poll and asked him the question: "Is that enough?"

What did Henry say to the referee?

Why would he do such a thing? Well, Henry explained exactly why as part of a fascinating chat with Leicester City midfielder James Maddison in 2020 - and it's absolutely brilliant to hear.

That's because the Arsenal icon revealed that Poll had prevented him from trying to catch out the goalkeeper with a quick free-kick while he was still stood by the post and organising his wall.

Henry had come under fire for using that exact tactic to score against Aston Villa and Chelsea in previous seasons, leading to the match official standing in front of the ball to stop a repeat case.

So when the Premier League legend proceeded to score anyway despite his initial plan of action having been thwarted, he couldn't resist making a cheeky comment to Poll just to let him know.
