Arsenal target Mykhaylo Mudryk 'will assess his future in January' and the Shakhtar Donetsk star is interested in making a move to the Emirates Stadium, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs.

The Gunners may be flying high at the top of the Premier League, but boss Mikel Arteta will be given the opportunity to make alterations to his squad when the transfer window reopens in January.

What's the latest news involving Mudryk?

Arsenal could reportedly reignite their interest in Mudryk, having missed out on striking a deal before the September 1 deadline.

It is understood that the Gunners held discussions with the winger's representatives during the summer transfer window, although talks were not opened with Shakhtar.

Mudryk appeared to open the door for an eventual switch to north London as, in a video interview released by Jacobs last month, he admitted he 'can't say no' to a winter switch to Arsenal.

But the Gunners are not the 21-year-old's only suitors as Newcastle United are mulling over whether to lodge a £50million bid when the transfer window reopens in January, while French side Nice are leading the race.

Shakhtar director of football Darijo Srna has confirmed that Everton tabled an offer worth £26million for Mudryk during the closing stages of the summer window, but the proposal was rejected.

What has Ben Jacobs said about Mudryk?

Having interviewed Mudryk, Jacobs understands the Ukrainian will make a decision over where his long-term future lies at the turn of the year.

The journalist believes Shakhtar could struggle to hold onto their talisman if some of European football's biggest clubs head to the negotiating table.

He feels Mudryk is keen to hold discussions with Arsenal, potentially giving them an edge over other suitors.

Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT: "I think he made it clear to me that he will assess his future in January and it would be hard to say no to top clubs. He particularly referenced Arsenal."

Would Mudryk be a good signing for Arsenal?

Following Arsenal's flying start to the campaign, having won 10 of their opening 11 matches in all competitions, it could be argued that Arteta does not need to spend big in January.

But there is no doubt that Mudryk would be an astute signing as he has already registered eight goal contributions in just seven outings this season.

The Shakhtar gem has also gained comparisons to Paris Saint-Germain and France star Kylian Mbappe, which is no mean feat and underlines his talent.

Mudryk has been his current employers' second best performer since the Champions League group stage got underway, averaging a match rating of 7.16, so he is more than capable of being a consistent entertainer.
