Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke will make ‘money available’ to Mikel Arteta if he wishes to strengthen his side in January, with plans already being put in place at the Emirates Stadium, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The Spaniard bolstered his first-team squad by spending over £115 million on new signings in the summer but could soon invest more.

What is the latest from Arsenal?

The Gunners retained their place at the top of the Premier League after beating Liverpool 3-2 in a pulsating clash in north London.

Gabriel Martinelli opened the scoring inside a minute before Bukayo Saka added two of his own after Liverpool had twice equalised through Darwin Nunez and Roberto Firmino.

After full-time, Arteta described the victory as ‘powerful’ and piled praise onto the supporters for creating an atmosphere inside the Emirates that he had ‘never seen’ before.

Martinelli also shone a light on the magnitude of the victory, insisting after full-time that the ‘spirit’ within the squad is currently crucial.

What has O’Rourke said on Kroenke?

O’Rourke understands that plans will already be in place ahead of the January window with Kroenke set to make funds available to Arteta.

The journalist adds that, while the owner has come in for plenty of criticism, recent performances in the transfer market are worthy of praise.

O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: “I think they are busy planning for the January transfer window as well where money will be available if Mikel Arteta wants to strengthen his squad. The Kroenkes have come in for a bit of stick in the past, but they are putting their money down and backing Mikel Arteta and, so far, it seems like things are paying off with the success Arsenal are having, especially on the recruitment front.”

How have Arsenal’s summer signings performed?

Five new signings made their way to the Emirates during the latest transfer window including Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Fabio Vieira.

The Brazilian striker has made a fast start to life in north London, scoring five goals and providing three assists in nine Premier League appearances.

Zinchenko too had become a regular in Arteta’s squad but has recently suffered a number of injury setbacks.

But Arsenal’s best player this season has arguably been centre-back William Saliba, who has felt like a new signing after returning from a third loan spell away last season with Marseille.

The 21-year-old has started all nine of the club’s Premier League outings and scored twice in the process, becoming a huge fan favourite at the Emirates.
