Manchester United star Donny van de Beek must seal his Old Trafford exit if he is not given more game-time ahead of the World Cup, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Dutchman returned to the Red Devils in the summer, having spent the second half of last season on loan with Everton, but he has rarely been on the pitch.

What's the latest news involving van de Beek?

Although van de Beek's £120,000-per-week contract has just shy of three years left to run and there is an option for Manchester United to extend his stay by 12 months, it seems his days on the club's books may be numbered.

That is because, according to 90min, the 25-year-old has been granted permission to leave the Red Devils when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year.

The report suggests van de Beek is likely to depart on loan and Ajax, who saw a move blocked by Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag in the summer, are among the clubs keeping tabs on his situation.

Since the season got underway, the creative midfielder has been afforded just 19 minutes of action and not made an appearance since the 2-1 win over Liverpool in August.

Serie A giants Inter Milan could reportedly offer van de Beek a way out of Old Trafford, while Jones has previously told GIVEMESPORT that the outcast has regrets over joining Manchester United.

What has Dean Jones said about van de Beek?

Jones believes van de Beek has entered a critical moment in his Manchester United career and the coming weeks will determine whether he should look to move onto pastures new.

The journalist feels the 19-cap Netherlands international needs to enjoy a sustained run of opportunities ahead of the World Cup getting underway in Qatar next month.

If his route remains blocked before domestic football is put on hold, Jones has called on van de Beek to make his way towards the exit door.

He told GIVEMESPORT: "If he doesn't get a run of games between now and the World Cup, then I think he's got to make the decision to leave."

Is van de Beek likely to be given more opportunities in the coming weeks?

Ahead of Manchester United's win over Everton at the weekend, ten Hag insisted that van de Beek's 'chances will come' when he is fully fit.

That appears to be positive for the £40million man and there is plenty of time for him to make an impact thanks to the Red Devils being involved in 10 fixtures up until the World Cup.

But van de Beek, who has registered just four goal contributions in 53 Manchester United appearances, will need to assess his options if ten Hag breaks his promise of more game-time being in the offing.
