Leeds United are 'keeping tabs' on Leon King and may look to lure the Rangers talent to Elland Road, according to journalist Pete O'Rourke.

Whites boss Jesse Marsch spent close to £100million bolstering his squad during the summer transfer window, but he will be given another opportunity to welcome fresh faces to the club at the turn of the year.

What's the latest news involving King?

King is enjoying a breakthrough season, with more than half of his Rangers appearances coming since the 2022/23 campaign got underway.

It seems the central defender's performances have not gone unnoticed as, according to Fabrizio Romano, Leeds are one of three Premier League clubs to have sent scouts to watch him in action.

The respected Italian journalist suggests Manchester United and Newcastle United are also monitoring King, who won his first Scotland under-21 cap earlier this year.

Having come on as a substitute against Ajax and Napoli, Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst handed the 18-year-old his maiden Champions League start as his current employers suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool last week.

Over the course of the Gers' first three group stage clashes in the competition, King averaged 2.7 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, 2.3 clearances and won 3.7 duels at a success rate of 50 per cent.

What has Pete O'Rourke said about King?

O'Rourke understands that King is highly-rated at Rangers and he is now reaping the rewards at Ibrox.

The journalist is aware the teenager has been gaining interest from Premier League sides, including Leeds.

O'Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: "He is a very talented young defender. He has been very highly thought of at Rangers for a long time and he is now getting opportunities in the first team as well.

"Obviously, Leeds are keeping tabs on him, along with a number of other clubs as well."

What has been said about King's performances in recent weeks?

King has made a lasting impression on Rangers chief van Bronckhorst, who has claimed the academy product's future is 'very bright'.

He also caught the eye of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp following his performance at Anfield earlier this month, with the German saying he deserved 'credit' after making it difficult for the Merseyside giants to break down the Scottish Premiership side.

Former Rangers manager Alex McLeish described King's display during the Champions League group stage clash as 'tremendous', so it is clear that he has gained plenty of attention in recent weeks.
