What's the latest news involving Mbappe?

It is understood that Mbappe is pushing to leave PSG in January after feeling 'betrayed' by his current employers.

According to The Telegraph, the reigning Ligue 1 champions have no intention of sanctioning their 23-year-old talisman's departure.

However, the report suggests PSG could be tempted into entering negotiations if a bid worth upwards of £300million is lodged for Mbappe, who only signed a new three-year deal in May.

Chelsea are reportedly among the clubs which could look to test the French giants' resolve as Boehly is keen to make a statement signing and the attacker previously trained with the Blues, while he also played a friendly against Charlton Athletic.

It is thought that it will be difficult for Mbappe to leave the Parc des Princes midway through the season, but a summer exit is on the cards.

What has Pete O'Rourke said about Mbappe?

O'Rourke believes Chelsea are in the running to sign Mbappe as his PSG career appears to be nearing its end.

The journalist feels Boehly is desperate to stamp his authority on the Blues' squad by splashing the cash on a big name.

O'Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: "I think Chelsea will be one of those clubs who will be linked with Mbappe.

"I'm sure Todd Boehly would love to make such a marquee signing as Mbappe just to really stamp his mark on the club."

Can Chelsea afford Kylian Mbappe?

Boehly has already shown that he is not afraid to put his money where his mouth is since leading a £4.25billion takeover of Chelsea in May.

But as well as a hefty transfer fee, 2018 World Cup winner Mbappe will be seeking astronomical wages at his next club.

The PSG contract he penned earlier this year is worth close to £44million-per-year, while he also claimed a £157.5million signing bonus.

Reaching an agreement in the French capital resulted in Mbappe heading to the top of the list of football's highest-paid stars.

While the Frenchman will argue he deserves a lucrative pay package, having amassed more than 270 goal contributions during his time at PSG, it will be difficult for the majority of clubs to meet his demands.
