Thomas Ronhaar won his first F1 Esports race on Wednesday evening, beating Frede Rasmussen at the Austrian GP.

Rasmussen started on pole in wet conditions at the Red Bull Ring, but a rare mistake on the opening lap opened the door for Ronhaar, and set the scene for an epic battle between the two in the rain.

The lead exchanged hands on more than one occasion as the pair fought for supremacy but it was the rookie who got the better of the veteran this time around, with Ronhaar winning in what was just his fourth race in the championship.

He's shown blistering pace already this year with him particularly strong in qualifying and now he has experience of winning under his belt, who knows what else he could achieve in his maiden season.

Josh Idowu finished third, meanwhile, ahead of Nicolas Longuet with them also enjoying a really intense battle for the final podium spot.

The series heads to Belgium this evening, meanwhile, for round five of the Esports championship, before things are concluded in the Netherlands at Zandvoort in terms of event two, as we reach the halfway stage in the championship.
